It’s hard to believe it’s been 31 years since a 25-year-old kid opened his office in a town that he never lived in. But that’s the case. It was the best decision I ever made. The community embraced me, and I was able to build a life here. I served on various civic organizations boards and city commissions over the years as a way to pay back the generosity I felt from the individuals in this community. My brother Dan and I were honored this summer when the Raspberry Festival asked us to serve as grand marshals. Wow, who would’ve thought that might happen 31 years ago.
Recently I’ve seen some patients that I haven’t seen in maybe 10 to 15 years, it definitely makes you feel old. But at the same time, it warms your heart to know these people come back when they need your help regardless of how long it’s been. I recently had a girl come in that I last treated when she was six months old for an ear infection, she’s now 21. She is actually the third generation in her family that I’ve treated including both her parents extended families. It makes you truly feel like you’re part of the community. That was my goal 31 years ago, to be the town chiropractor, embraced by all.
I have been blessed and life has been very good for me in Hopkins. I’ve been lucky enough to work with a family member every day of my life. Not many people get that opportunity and I’m grateful for that. I also met the love of my life Connie at the Elks Lodge. I tried to get her to work for me, but she declined. My persistence paid off however, she never worked for me, now I work for her, she’s my wife.
We recently hired a new staff member, Katie Morgan, you may already know that if you’re a Facebook friend of ours. She has been a fabulous addition and looks forward to meeting all of you. Trust me you’re going to absolutely love her.
Dan and I were talking the other day and decided to have a promotion in honor of our 31st anniversary. We felt like we needed to have a party so we are having cake provided by the boys at Driskill’s Main Street grocery and food all day provided by Keith and the guys at Nelson meats. Make sure you stop in and say hi, we will have plenty of food, Driskill’s and Nelson’s do a fantastic job.
We are also kicking off a promotion that day where we are offering free exams, x-rays if needed, and the first adjustment free for any current patients immediate family members. That means your kids your spouses or significant others. Bring them in, get checked out by us, and pay nothing as our way of saying thanks for the support over the past 31 years. We’re running the promotion from Friday the 9th through Friday the 16th.
I look forward to seeing all of you on Friday, and if not on Friday throughout the coming year. Please take advantage of our offer, Dan and I love sharing the blessings of chiropractic with everyone.
